It's been a hell of a year.
I've never made so many comics in my life. I'm actually exhausted and I really need some rest. But it was totally worth it.
Worked on Christmas and I'm gonna work tomorrow and the day after, but it's all worth it.
Comics are great.
I believe we've done something special with The Umbrella Academy. I feel really proud of it. And that kept me working all these times.
Last night I was finishing it, alone in the studio, late at night, and I felt like registering it. Fábio wears suits on his last days on each project. Well, I'm not the fancy one.
It's no great movie, but it's just to say that I've done it. I went all the way, and I'd do it again anytime. So let's do it again next year.
Oh yeah, I couldn't help putting the song as the soundtrack. It's actually one I like.
Happy New Year to all of you.

new journeys.
My bags are packed and I'm ready to go.
The new year awaits.
For good things to happen, we have to make it happen. Here's wishing next year brings a lot of good things for us, and for everybody. When midnight comes, on the 31st, I'll be watching fireworks with my feet buried in the sand of a beautiful beach, the sea gently breaking against my ankles, and I'll throw flowers and say thank you, and I'll make wishes and enjoy another good year.
Hopefully, I won't be alone, and we will all have new stories to tell.

Washington Post.
This past Sunday edition of the Washington Post published their A List for Titles that earned the top grades from their reviewers, which, in their comics section, included Luxuria: Casanova, Vol 1, by Matt Fraction and Gabriel Bá.
Works at the end of the year tend to pile up around here, and December is usually one of our most busy months of the year. It's nice to see little things like this while you're working. Makes it feel that, while we're very isolated when working, the work we do in getting seen, and read, and remembered.
Back to work.
But also, before I go, here and here you'll find reviews of the most recent Casanova issue.
Now back to work.

SAN DIEGO WEEK- the info.
Here we are! We're leaving yet again for San Diego, hoping to do some good and tell some jokes, and even maybe sell some books. Most of the time, we'll be at the Image booth (booth # 2729), so come to say hi. We have some scheduled signings, and they are as follow:
Saturday
12:30/2pm - Umbrella Academy signing, with Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way
at the Dark Horse Comics booth (booth # 2615)
3mpm/4pm - Joint Planetary Brigade/Zombie Tales signing with Fábio Moon and a bunch of other artists that worked on either (or both) of these books.
at the Boom Studios booth (booth # 2543)
SUNDAY
12pm/1pm - De:TALES signing with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá
at the Dark Horse Comics booth (booth # 2615)
Besides the signings, and the secret meetings, and the announcements to make secrets known, we'll be at our table inside the image booth. There, we'll have a lot of cool comics for you, including:
- 5, the new indy sensation, the comic book from the Girl, the Greek and the guris, done across the globe by Fábio Moon, Gabriel Bá, Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos and Rafael Grampá.
- Rock'n'Roll, the hit of 2004/2005, with whatever available copies we have left, because that was such a cool comic that even after it was printed, Image wanted to print it again.
-Casanova 8, the return! Casanova Quinn is back, and so is everyone else, and now I'm the artists of Matt Fraction's and Bá's creation, while Bá continues to amaze us with his covers.
-Casanova volume 2 - Luxuria
Discover the wild world of Casanova Quinn on this beautiful hard cover.
We'll have much more there from our posse, Becky and Vasilis, so I'm sure you'll find something you want if you stop at our booth. But, if you're still not satisfied with our offerings, we're also bringing some original pages for your viewing and buying pleasure.
We can't just bring everything we've done, so we selected some pages. We like them very much, so we hope you like them too.
PAGES TO SELL! (click on the images to see bigger)
- FCBD Umbrella pages (by Gabriel Bá)
Bá will have some other pages available , so if you stop by, ask to see "the folder".

New Terra Major comic!
Phineas Poe #1
writer Will Christopher Baer
artist Jefferson Costa
publisher Terra Major
32pp / No Ads / BW / $5 US
DCD Code: APR07 3955 / Page 342
We started our international career in comics with Shane Amaya's Terra Major comics. He wrote Roland - days of wrath and we did the artwork. We got a Xeric Foundation Grant for it back in 1999. After that, Shane continued producing more historical fiction books with other brazilian artists like Bruno D'Angelo and Kako, until finally in 2005 we released the big book of brazilians doing westerns: Gunned Down (okay, there were two or three americans involved on that book).
Now, Terra Major is back, publishing their first mini series. Adapted from the best seller Kiss me Judas, Phineas Poe has the outstanding artwork of fellow brazilian Jefferson Costa.
Order this book from the Diamond catalog and wait for it in June. Or click here to know more.

2007 list
There are lot's of times when we have the impression we have nothing to do and feel very useless or unproductive. These gaps between craziness of insane work usually kill me of boredom. I prefer being up to my neck with work, always in a rush.
It is good to know the things you're gonna do before you do them, just so you can better plan the journey. Also, you don't feel this emptiness, this gap, this void. So Here it comes our 2007 list of things to fill up the void:
- CASANOVA volume 1 TP - LUXURIA
- CASANOVA #8-14 (also known as second volume)
- Fábio's story on FLIGHT
- Fábio story on 24 Seven volume 2
- Umbrella Academy FCBD edition
- Umbrella Academy 6 part mini-series
- SDCC special BEST-COMIC-EVER with Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos and Grampá
Well. It seems like a good year. Let's get busy.
